In January of 2010 Archangel Ancient Tree Archive made our first international collection trip. From two of the oldest remaining oak stands in Ireland we collected around 20 different Common Oak trees, all estimated to be 500-1000 years in age. The propagules from trees have been growing in the Netherlands and are scheduled to come to Michigan for further research this winter. Transporting this living material involves all sorts of agricultural regulations. Part of our work is in sorting out these regulations and working with various governmental agencies to ensure the safe transport of our clones. We are also in the midst of raising funds to establish the first international archive in Ireland with the trees from this collection.
Thank you for your wonderful work.
Just listened to the interview on Radio 1, you are doing such great work, Thank you !
Hello, I am a filmmaker from Berlin preparing a film on Joseph Beuys, whom you quote on your wonderful website. Of course I will tell the story of his piece of art “7000 Eichen” (7000 oak trees) and I would like to film impressive oak trees in Ireland, because I think, he was inspired by Celtic mythology for this. Can you tell me, where I can find those trees? For example that on your website (“Irish oak collection”)?
Thanks a lot

The clones in our Irish oak collection were given back to Ireland. They were part of the “One Million Trees In One Day Project” and were planted at the tree nursery in Manch at the INFF (Irish National Forestry Foundation). I last heard from them 10/31/13 when I inquired to see how the clones were doing. My contact there told me that the survival rate was about 95% and that they (clones) are also mapped and labelled as to the parent tree. These clones were all grafted as that method yields the best results on oaks.

I don’t create many comments, but i did a few searching
and wound up here Archangel Ancient Tree Archive | Irish
Oak Collection. And I actually do have a couple of questions for
you if it’s allright. Is it simply me or does it seem like some of the remarks appear like they are written by brain dead individuals?
😛 And, if you are posting on additional sites, I would like to follow anything fresh
you have to post. Would you list of the complete urls of your public pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin
profile?
