Old-Growth Giant Sequoia Forest taking Root in Detroit’s Inner City
Archangel Ancient Tree Archive teamed up with Arboretum Detroit to plant the world’s first old-growth Giant Sequoia forest in the heart of Detroit’s Poletown East neighborhood.
The trees planted are direct descendants of the “Stagg” and “Waterfall” trees (seen in the video here), two of the world’s largest Giant Sequoias. Their 30-foot diameter trunks as wide as city streets, the trees are set to transform one of America’s most deforested cities into a global model for resilience and urban rewilding.
